Eco-Friendly Pre-Treatment Coating

IFT Worldwide, a leader in the metal finishing industry, was contracted by the U.S. Military to apply a pre-treatment to military vehicle armor. This project required a coating that was environmentally friendly and one that provided a strong base for paint bonding. This Alodine 5200 titanium-based conversion coating was chromate-free, making it a next-generation green coating that reduced the risk of health issues, and was a suitable product to use prior to a chemical-agent-resistant coating paint system.

To meet the needs of this client, we built a facility to accommodate the newest green technologies. We support the U.S. Military and tier 1 suppliers with this coating process on aluminum and other light metal alloy components. Our quality controls include coating weight testing, adhesion testing, and 240-hour salt spray testing of painted test coupons to ensure that all components meet our high standards. We also work to tightest tolerances of .0001″.
